Typedia: Blog: Machine Tags for Type →
We’ve defined a set of machine tags that will specify a good chunk of the information about the type in an image. Even if the minimum you feel comfortable tagging a photo with is the “face” machine tag, it will go a long way towards making Typedia more useful. Here’s the syntax for tagging a typeface, style, foundry, and designer:

– Peter Mandleson, quoted by Channel 4 News, referring to The Sun newspaper.. “Chumps” is not the word he’s actually quoted as saying. He apparently can’t even tell the truth about telling the truth.

– Dan Brown’s 20 worst sentences I’m familiar with the fact that Dan Brown is an absolutely terrible writer, but this is ridiculous. Admittedly, I didn’t know the etymology of ‘Da Vinci’ until I read this, but then, I never wrote a book about it either.

Sharing the Love
I linked to my exciting new Fever ‘Saved Items’ feed before, but the thought occurs that I could link to my various other feeds of affection as well, so here they are. Would love to know if people actual consume any of these, and how, and what they get from them. I don’t necessarily mean just mine; I mean anyone’s. It’s the concept of following favourite items that interests me...

Exercises in Self Discovery
The previous post is a first step in trying to identify myself. I’ve stared at my unstyled blog pages for a long time now and not really being an artist, I got nothin’. If I were to approach someone to design my blog for me, or even just some art for the header, I haven’t the faintest clue what I’d ask for, not even a direction, style or starting point. The four words try to...

– Time to Re-found America: Glenn Beck – The 912 Project (transcript of Fox News video) It’s with some delight that my Britishness can be of some assistance in the US Health Care debatecle. Glenn Beck cites The Daily Mail as his source for the ‘2 million’ figure. Oh boy. The Daily Mail, which...

9.12 DC Tea Party - Interviews →
At the less (but still a bit) snarky end of 9/12 coverage comes this 10 minute set of interviews. It’s a guy wandering through the crowds in DC, filming the various batshit aspects of the protesters and their sloganeering, but also engaging them. And not ‘engaging’ in a shouting-across-the-street, taking the piss way. Engaging in an actual calm, intelligent way. He asks direct questions...

– This is both the most brilliantly awesome thing ever, and embarrassing for humanity. Billionaires for Wealthcare I’m unsure where I stand on taking advantage of these people that have already been taken advantage of once by Glenn Beck and his ilk. There must be a limit at which your own...

My Saved Items from Fever (RSS Feed) →
Fever just got an update and now includes options to export saved items as an RSS feed. Useful in its own right, this is especially cool as you can use other people’s Saved Items as Sparks in your own Fever instance, socially promoting interesting content. It’s not the driving purpose behind Fever, but I think it’s got a lot of potential as a first class demonstration of a...
